10. Dog Lost by Ingrid Lee --- This fast-paced book about a pit bull puppy and her loving but emotionally-abused young owner is one of the most popular books in my middle school library. If you like dogs, you'll love this book.

11. schooled.jpgSchooled by Gordon Korman--When Capricorn Anderson's grandmother breaks her hip while picking apples on the commune farm where the two live, Capricorn is placed in foster care while his grandmother recovers in the hospital and is sent to a regular local middle school. Capricorn has never socialized with people his own age. He's been homeschooled. Capricorn is basically a throwback from the 60s. A sweet, kind, peaceful young man who is thrown into a middle school jungle. Filled with Korman's humor, this is an entertaining read.sw
